Comparison
OTPBox vs. Temp-Mail.org
This one's a different kind of comparison from our developer-tool guides: both OTPBox and Temp-Mail.org are, first and foremost, a free throwaway inbox for a person who just needs to get past a sign-up form or a one-time code without handing over a real address. Temp-Mail.org is one of the most established names in that space — apps, a browser extension, and support for many languages. OTPBox's homepage inbox does the same basic job, but it's built on the same infrastructure as a full developer API and MCP server, which most consumer temp-mail brands don't offer. We build OTPBox and are naturally biased toward it — read this with that in mind, and try both yourself since a "best" temp-mail inbox is mostly about which one feels fastest to you.
We don't have current details on Temp-Mail.org's app store ratings, extension install counts or any paid tier they may offer, and won't guess at numbers that change — check their site directly. OTPBox's consumer pricing: the free inbox is ad-supported with a 1-hour lifetime; Premium is $4.99/month (or $29/year) for no ads and inboxes that last up to 24 hours — see
/pricing. OTPBox's separate developer API pricing (Free/Pro $9 per month for 5,000 requests/Enterprise) is unrelated to the consumer inbox and described on the same page.
What each tool is, in one line
- OTPBox — a free, no-signup disposable inbox on the homepage (instant address, codes and links extracted automatically, attachments, Telegram forwarding, QR handoff), sitting on top of the same platform as a full developer REST API, an MCP server for AI agents, and a TypeScript SDK.
- Temp-Mail.org — a long-established consumer temp-mail brand: instant disposable addresses via its website, plus mobile apps and a browser extension, in many languages. As far as is publicly documented, it does not offer a developer API or an MCP server for programmatic or agent use.

Where OTPBox is the better fit
- You'll eventually want a developer API. If today's need is "give me a throwaway inbox in the browser" but tomorrow's might be "automate this in a test suite" or "let an AI agent handle this," OTPBox is the same account and the same domain for both — no separate signup with a different vendor. Temp-Mail.org, as far as is publicly documented, has no developer API or MCP server, so a programmatic need means switching tools entirely.
- Automatic code and link extraction. OTPBox's inbox surfaces the OTP code and classifies the link type (verification, password reset, magic login, etc.) for you, rather than leaving you to read the raw message.
- A clear, ad-free upgrade path. Free stays free and ad-supported with a 1-hour inbox; Premium at $4.99/month (or $29/year) removes ads and extends inbox lifetime to 24 hours, unlocked with one key across every device, no account or password. If you dislike ad-supported temp-mail sites generally, that's a straightforward option instead of just tolerating them.
- Extra handoff conveniences. Telegram forwarding and QR handoff (documented on the homepage) make it easy to get a message onto another device without re-typing an address.
Where Temp-Mail.org may be the better fit
Being honest about where the older, purely consumer product still has an edge:
- Native apps and a browser extension. Temp-Mail.org offers dedicated mobile apps and a browser extension, which can be more convenient for someone who wants a temp address without opening a new tab and visiting a site each time. OTPBox's inbox is a website only.
- Broader language support. As one of the more established consumer temp-mail brands, Temp-Mail.org supports more languages out of the box, which matters if your primary audience isn't English-speaking.
- Track record and brand recognition. It's a name many people already know and trust for this exact use case, which can matter if you're pointing a non-technical audience at a temp-mail tool and want something they may have already used.
Try it yourself
For the consumer inbox, there's nothing to install or sign up for — open the OTPBox homepage and you have an address immediately. If you're a developer evaluating whether the same platform fits your test suite or AI agent, see the API docs or the AI agent guide.
